NWAAS Update: Greg Atkins 26th Overall, 2nd in National Rookie Standings

New York State Standings - Division I
Asphalt Modified driver Jimmy Zacharias leads the NWAAS New York State Division I standings; Zacharias competes at Holland Speedway and Chemung Speedrome. Dirt Modified drivers Matt Sheppard and Pat Ward sit second and third, respectively, after success at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, and asphalt Modified racers John Fortin and Tom Rogers Jr. from Riverhead Raceway on Long Island are 4-5. Airborne Park Speedway's Nick Heywood - the 2014 NWAAS National Rookie of the Year - has cracked the Top 20 in 19th place, and the Airborne drivers are expected to begin climbing the New York State ranks soon now that the summer schedule has arrived.

Vermont State Standings - Division I
Ron Proctor used his second Devil's Bowl win of the season to vault back into the lead in the NWAAS Vermont State Division I standings. The 2011 & 2012 NWAAS Vermont State champion has a 10-point lead on Greg Atkins, with Joey Roberts, Vince Quenneville Jr., and Jason Durgan in the top five.

As a first-year NASCAR Division I license holder, Atkins is the top driver in the NWAAS Vermont State rookie standings. Bucko Branham is second, followed by Allan Hammond, Jimmy Ryan, and Bob Kilburn.

National Standings - Division I
Connecticut's Keith Rocco, the 2010 NWAAS National Champion, leads the national standings. Rocco has six victories in 19 asphalt Modified starts at Stafford Motor Speedway, New London-Waterford Speedbowl, and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, all in his home state. Two-time champion Lee Pulliam of North Carolina sits second with 10 Late Model wins in 22 starts at four southeastern tracks.

Asphalt Modified racer Ryan Preece of Connecticut, ranks third with Tennessee Late Model driver Kres Vandyke fourth, and South Carolina Late Model driver David Roberts is fifth.

Greg Atkins of Clintonville, NY is the top local driver, ranked #26 nationally with a combined 10 Modified starts at Airborne and Devil's Bowl. Vince Quenneville Jr. sits 33rd overall with Bucko Branham 42nd, Jason Durgan 43rd, and Nick Heywood 76th among the Top 100.

Atkins also sits second in national rookie points behind dirt Modified driver Thomas Tillison Jr. of Oklahoma. Steve Holzkamper, who races against Tillison at Salina Highbanks Speedway and Flint Creek Speedway in the "Sooner State" is third among rookies, with Branham fourth and dirt Modified driver Shawn Valenti of Ohio's Limaland Motorsports Park fifth.

National Standings - Division II
Dirt Sportsman Modified driver Brett Kressley of Pennsylvania's Grandview Speedway leads the NWAAS Division II national standings with four wins in 10 starts. Asphalt Sportsman racer Taylor Branch of Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina sits second, followed by Oklahoma dirt racer Chris Hawkins, dirt racer Jesse Dennis of Nebraska, and Bowman Gray's Thomas Neal.

Todd Stone ranks 23rd overall in Division II, with a combined 11 starts in Late Model competition at Airborne and Devil's Bowl, as well as Pro Late Model racing during the "World Series" at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida in February.

National Standings - Division III
Three drivers from the Renegade division at South Carolina's Greenville-Pickens Speedway lead the Division III national standings - Brad Burns, Bobby Emory Jr., and Shane Hill sit 1-2-3. Nebraska dirt racer Ryan Jenkins is fourth, Tennessee's Billy Ketron is fifth.

Local Renegade racers are climbing quickly, with Jason McClatchie up to 18th place. Defending Airborne and Devil's Bowl champion Robert Gordon is 35th, with Richie Turner 43rd, Dylan Rabtoy 53rd, Keith O'Neil 76th, and Jim McKiernan 78th among the Top 100 nationally.

National Standings - Division IV
Devin Stansbury of Columbus (OH) Speedway leads the Division IV national standings, followed by A.J. Sanders of North Carolina, Ryan Smith of Columbus, dirt driver Brad Derry of Iowa, and Connecticut's Al Saunders of Stafford Motor Speedway.

Mini Stock/Mini-Modified racer Chris LaVair is the highest-ranking local driver, cracking the Top 10 in tenth place. Yandow/John Deere Spring Championship Series winner Dale O'Neil ranks 26th with Tyler Irwin 45th, Pete Blaney 66th, Harold LaVair 94th, Kris Clark 95th, and Tim LaFountain in 100th place.
