LaFountain Claims First Win
PLATTSBURGH- Jamie LaFountain picked up his first win of 2016 on board his number 20x machine. The win came in the second of two 25 lap features for the Ernie’s Discount Tools Sportsman Modifieds.
LaFountain was able to take the lead on lap three and never looked back. Codie Aubin was chasing down LaFountain, but ran out of time as they reached the checkered flag at lap 25. Nick Heywood, Timex Morgan and Jamy Begor rounded out the unofficial top five.
The first feature for the Sportsman Modifieds ran green to checkered as Mike Wells picked up his second win of the season. Wells’ car was stout as his margin of victory was half the front stretch. Roger Labreche, Danny Sullivan, Bucko Branham and Heywood completed the unofficial top five.
Josh Terry was able to turn a couple of weeks of bad luck into some good luck, as he came from the outside pole position for his third win of the year in the Jeffords Steel Renegade division. Jason McClatchie, another driving that has had some bad luck, had a dominant car, as he chased down Terry in the closing 10 laps but ran out of time. Dylan Rabtoy, Tylor Terry and Shawn Duquette completed the unofficial top five.
The Busch Beer Mini Mods ran three 10 lap segments to determine the overall winner and when it was all said and done, Dale O’Neil claimed his ninth checkered flag of 2016. O’Neil had a total of three points, winning all segments. Josh LaPorte, Tyler Irwin, Tim LaFountain and Eddie Bresette completed the unofficial top five.
Larry Underwood of Milton, Vermont was the winner of the spectator races with Mike Mahuta the runner-up.
Racing action resumes at Airborne Park Speedway next Saturday night with a 50 lap feature scheduled for the Renegades. Post time is slated for 7. For more information and to stay up to date, visit airborneparkspeedway.com or follow on Facebook at Airborne Park Speedway.
