DIRTcar Championships at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway
PLATTSBURGH – The 2019 regular season is winding down at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway and DIRTcar Championship points will end on Saturday.
The Egglefield Ford 358-Modifieds, Poirier’s True Value Sportsman Modifieds and Hartson Total Opening Pro Stocks will have their final regular point counting events of the season. The 358-Modified champion will be crowned on Saturday, while the Sportsman and Pro Stocks will have a show-up points event on September 7 and the champion will then be determined.
In addition, the Ernie’s Discount Tools Super Stocks and Frennier Motorsports Strictly Stocks will be in action for double features, while the Novice Sportsman have a single feature event.
Defending 358-Modified champion Steve Bernier of St. Hyacinthe, PQ is the current point leader with three wins on the season and a 22-point lead of King Ferry native, Mike Mahaney. Chris Raabe, Dany Gagné and Lance Willix round out the top five in 358-Modified points.
East Corinth, VT driver Adam Pierson leads the Sportsman points by 23 over Connor Cleveland. Both drivers have had extremely consistent seasons with Pierson collecting three wins and 13 top five finishes and Cleveland six wins and eight top five finishes. Travis Bruno, Nick Heywood and Lonnie Rivers sit in third through fifth in the standings.
Ormstown, PQ driver C.D. Beauchamp leads the Pro Stock point standings by six over Plantagenet, ON native Marc Lalonde. Jocelyn Roy, Roch Aubin and Pascal Payeur round out the top five.
Post time on Saturday is 6 P.M. Grandstand gates open at 4 and admission prices are $15 for adults with kids ages 12 and under free of charge.
