Heywood Wins Enduro 125 at Plattsburgh Airborne

PLATTSBURGH – Nick Heywood took the checkered flag in come-from-behind fashion on Sunday and collected the $2,500 prize in the Poirier’s True Value Enduro 125 at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway.

Heywood took the lead in the final five laps of the event, as leader at the time, Michael Wright had contact in turns three and four that shoved him up into a disabled vehicle. Heywood went on to win by a margin of five seconds.

Ryan Senecal lead the field to the first check point at lap-20. Bill Fountain, Josh LaPorte, Jason McClatchie and Heywood rounded out the top five cars at lap-20.

LaPorte had a strong surge between laps 20 and 40, as he took the lead over and Senecal moved to second. Austin Reyell moved into the third spot, while Heywood and Brent Jarvis were running in fourth and fifth.

Senecal would take the lead back on lap-60 and show the way until lap-115. With under 10 laps remaining, Senecal broke on the rear end of the car and was forced to pit. Wright would take over the controls, but would eventually be passed by Heywood. Wright, Cody Kilburn, Anthony Provost and Bud Blake completed the top five.

Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway management contacted the Autism Alliance of Northeastern New York and offered a portion of admission sales as a donation. Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway will be making an $850 donation.
